Missionary Sunday

Today we had a special missionary sacrament meeting -- invitations had been printed and ward members took these to hand out to non-member or inactive friends and neighbors to invite them to attend today.  The speakers talked about fundamental gospel topics -- Jesus Christ and The Atonement, The Restoration and the Book of Mormon, and the Plan of Salvation and the Joy it brings.  I was blessed (or cursed :) to be asked to speak on the Atonement - I was asked just last Sunday.  It was an unusually busy week, and I admit I stressed a bit over this -- what a responsibility to speak to such a congregation.  As always, I benefited the most in this as I read a lot, prayed a lot, and felt the guidance of the Spirit a lot!  So, although speaking frightens me a lot, I am grateful I had this assignment.

The Spirit was very present as we began this meeting with the confirmations of the Saal family -- Lisa, Siubhan, and Duncan.  As they received the gift of the Holy Ghost and their accompanying blessings, the Spirit was very strong.  So that was a good start.

We picked up an investigator both for the baptism yesterday and the meetings today.  Liz is currently meeting with the missionaries twice a week.  She has attended in the past and actually knows quite a few members in the ward.  I think she has had a hard life.  The gospel will be good for her!  (Really?  The gospel of Jesus Christ is good for ALL of us!!)  Liz has no phone, but we are planning to pick her up again next Sunday.  ~~  Among other things, Liz is a friend of Kim's.  She saw Kim briefly one day, but does not have any real contact with her or know where she is.
