Kim and Michael

Well, we didn't meet with Kim and Michael on Thursday.  It had been an exhausting week for them and they needed a day of rest.  But we did meet with them Friday briefly.  Of course, I should have written about this much sooner, because I don't remember exactly what we discussed Friday.

Saturday afternoon we met with them and introduced them to Elder Van Tassell, Elder Cary, and Elder Lilfungula.  Besides we five missionaries, there were Kim, Michael, the three children, plus Michael's sister, Nicole -- having a discussion in a motel room.  And it was fantastic.  Nicole, now 27, was baptized when she was about 11, but has not been active for many years if ever.  Again, they were very receptive.  Said they'd be to church Sunday. AND said they would commit to baptism next month!

Kim and Ashlyn did come to church -- Michael dropped them off.   Kim said her other two children were sick.  And Nicole had to work.  Kim and Ashlyn stayed for the entire block.  Ashlyn loved Primary and was all excited to be baptized right away :)  Kim did tell Ashlyn's Primary teacher that they would be back!

Another couple -- Chase and April -- less actives which the ward has been working with, were at church Sunday for the first time in several weeks.  Turns out Kim knew them -- Kim had lent a helping had to them several years ago.  Now they have offered to help Kim and her family.  April commented that their both being at church that day was not just a coincidence.  Probably not.  Motel room is too expensive for Kim and Michael to stay.  It looks like they will move in with Chase and April for a while  (which will be interesting.  Kim and Michael are quite strict with the kids.  April and Chase have a little girl that pretty much runs everything.)  -   (by way of background, April had other children taken from her and spent time in prison [don't know Chase's story - but the children were theirs together] - now she seems ready to come back to church.  I hear she is ready but Chase is dragging his feet . . .)

Kim has had some medical issues which prevented them from meeting with the elders Monday evening.  Now the elders are out of town for the rest of week, but we will attempt to meet with them.  Kim took our phone numbers and said she would call today.  We were unable to get through to her all day yestereday on the motel phone -- I would call and we would get cut off almost immediately.

When we visited very briefly Tuesday evening to make sure Kim was okay, Nicole was there again.  But not Michael.  Not sure what all is happening, but still there appears to be a very sincere desire to learn more.  The next few days will tell.  The kids are now comfortable with us, and I got some great snuggles from the baby before we had to leave :)

More later.
